Reading
Skylark by Paula McLain
Oh how I loved The Paris Wife. McLain returns to Paris with parallel tellings set in 1664 and 1939. I'm preferring the 1664 storyline, but look forward to seeing how they converge.
Listening
The Odyssey — Emily Wilson translation, read by Claire Danes
Highly recommend this modern translation. I enjoyed Christopher Nolan's film, but agree with Wilson's review — a missed opportunity to show females, especially Circe, in the light they deserve.
Growing
Herb garden
Snipping fresh herbs from the garden brought me immense satisfaction this summer. I'm still navigating how much water and sun exposure they need, but I love that they're always fresh and add so much flavor. Plus, there's no plastic to toss.
Creating
An insightful TBR system
I'm building a system to organize my 'to be read' lists, which are scattered across Goodreads shelves, Libby tags, and social media posts. The goal is to select my next read with more discernment.
Learning
Mahjong — Western-style
I am partial to the Singapore-style Mahjong I first learned, but it is fun to play this version with my family. By the time I Mahjong, it'll be time for the new card.
